Presentation: Cocksure and confident, Jimmy Kirk is Captain Fine. He struts about, commands attention and generally gets into brawls because screw you that's why. If you move and breathe, Jim's likely to flirt with you for the hell of it. He's brash and loud and doesn't like taking 'no' for an answer.

The darling of Starfleet, Jim is and knows he is the poster boy of all that's good and awesome in the Federation. He is really adept at diplomacy, despite what a lot of people seem to think, is fluent in multiple languages and adapts to situations in a snap.

And he's had to. He has always had to even as a little kid. If he didn't have his bravado and charm, then what exactly is his purpose? He jumps at dares and pretends things are fantastic because he doesn't want to expose his soft under-belly and yeah, he has one of those. Big time.
Motivations: Jim's spent a hell of a long time trying to prove his own worth. Living in the shadow of a dead dad, a crazy-piston of a mother and a step-dad who liked to yell more than play catch, Jim is constantly pushing himself to be a better person. He's smart without being arrogant, something he likes to hide because he always gets a tiny little kick out of flabbergasting people who think they're smart as shit only to be out played by him. He hurts easy, bruises where people might not think to look, and finds it really hard to know who to trust for the long haul. And it isn't because he doesn't want to trust people either.

He's got mommy issues, daddy issues and abandonment issues that are lightyears long and he's still pretty damn certain they only gave him the Enterprise because Pike pulled a ton of weight with the other Admirals and leaned heavily on the sympathy card. He doesn't always feel worthy of the accolades he receives, and would rather just keep pushing onward than stop and acknowledge the good that's been done.

Jim is an all right kid. He's kind and funny and gets into stupid situations with other people all the time and then only wants to put their safety first. He's compassionate and headstrong and it's probably going to get him killed entirely too young.

All he wants to do now is help people. It's pretty simple. He wants to explore and discover and grow into the epic destiny that was unexpectedly dumped on his head.

How he's still alive is as much a mystery to him as it is to anyone else.

Prose: Jim scrubs his hair for something like the twentieth time since being dragged in here. In this cold, sterile, ugly room and Jim has been in his fair share of those. This was stylized to be imposing and harsh, there was nothing comfortable about this.

"This is bullshit," he said more to himself than the small group of assholes who were looking on with a detached sort of disdain. Humanity for you. Right there. Jim hated every single one of them. Hell, he didn't have to know them, didn't have to understand the history of this place to know he hated them.

They were scoring people on how painful or short their deaths would be, that was enough for Jim to pass judgement without the 'getting to know one another' phase. They were past pleasantries. They had plucked him mid-warp from his ship in his sleep to make him fight for his life.

That wasn't honorable. That was sick.

This place was a special sort of hell and despite the modifications, these were human beings at the helm.

And they what? Wanted him to show off to curry favor of the people bidding on how fast he was going to get himself killed? Or worse, how easily he could kill another? No. No, Jim was perfectly content to stand there and stare down these assholes until they kicked him out.

Help or no. He wasn't about to be cowed by a bunch of cowardly assholes who stayed up high drinking wine and laughing about the prospect of more people dying.
What is your character scored: Jim gets an 8.
